Limited component level repair may be authorized for certain class 2 C.R.C.'s. Component level repair is authorized for all class 1 C.R.C.'s, however a test bed may not be authorized depending on volume. NOTE: It may be more cost effective for the C.R.C.'s to repair only to the sub-assembly level. The King of Prussia production facility will repair to the component level. Cannot enter set-up mode to enter attributes. CAUSE: The EAROM is empty and the terminal does not know how to respond without the attributes present. CORRECTIVE ACTION: Turn off the terminal. Hold down the 'G' key on the keyboard while turning the terminal back on. Continue holding down the key until initialization is complete. This procedure will load the default parameters into the EAROM. ORIGINATOR: R. APPEL VIDEO TERMINAL-WYSE-30,50---------------------------FIB002 Pg001 FIB 00003 07/21/87 *** Monitor/Power Supply Board Size Change *** There are, at this time, two differently sized monitor/power supply PCB's available for the WYSE 50/75 VDT. These two boards are electrically identical, and the mounting holes are spaced the same. However the circuit board is slightly larger on one, making it impossible to install in some units. There are no identifying features to distinguish one board from the other except physical size and revision level. MP000023: Smaller board, 7-3/8" wide, revision less than G. MP000004: Larger board, 7-5/8" wide, revision G. When ordering a replacement board, be sure to order the same board you have. This will save you much confusion and the necessity of making more than one trip back to the customer site to replace the board. Note: The small board may be substituted by logistics in place of the larger board, but not the other way around. Originator: Eileen Brady, 10/20/86 ORIGINATOR: E. BRADY VIDEO TERMINAL-WYSE-30,50---------------------------FIB003 Pg001 FIB 00004 07/21/87 *** Keyboard/Base Unit Hirshman (DIN) Connector Matching *** There are two different models of Hirshman (DIN) connectors found on the Wyse 50 keyboard cable and the keyboard socket found on the base unit. On the keyboard cable, there are two styles of plug. The newer one has a flat metal ring around the pins of the keyboard plug, the older style does not. On the base unit, the newer style socket is designed to accept this metal ring; the older style will not. WHEN ORDERING A REPLACEMENT KEYBOARD, determine if the base unit socket is the old or new style. If it is the OLD STYLE, order MP0000006 for the keyboard. The old cable by itself is MP000008. If it is a NEW STYLE socket, order an MP000019 keyboard. The new cable by itself is MP000020. WHEN RECEIVING A NEW LOGIC PCBA, check to see if the socket on the new assembly matches the old socket. If the two sockets DON'T MATCH, SWAP THE SOCKETS between the new and old assemblies. NOTE: BOTH keyboard cables will work on the new style socket, however, only the old keyboard cable will work with the old socket. Originator: Eileen Brady, 07/09/86 ORIGINATOR: E.
