INTRODUCTION A) Sorbus Machine Number 4416 - Basic Four Machine Number PT-4216 1) Part number prefix: MM31____ 2) Reference documents: M8085 PT-4216 Service Manual M5194 PT-4216 User's Guide 3) Available training: Video Course # V-178-S Juki 6200 Printer (Tape # M3801) B) The PT-4216 is a light to medium duty, daisy wheel printer capable of generating fully-formed, letter quality text at 30 cps. The print wheels and ribbon cartridges in this printer are directly interchangeable with those used in the 4206 and 4211 printers. Additional features include an easy to use operator panel with a handy top-of-form setting switch; an optional, bi-directional forms tractor for continuous paper; and an optional, dual bin sheet feeder for office automation applications. 2. Configuration information A) Printer: The printer comes with two possible interface configurations parallel (Centronics) and serial (RS-232C). There are additional selectable printer parameters that can be set by dip switches inside the front cover near the operator panel and on the rear panel near the I/O connector(s). To acess the front dip switches, open the top cover and look directly behind the operator panel. 1) Front dip switches (SW21 and SW22): The dip switch on the left behind the front panel is SW21, the one on . the right is SW22. O'Brien PRINTER-JUKI-6200-----------------------------------FIB001 Pg003 FIB 00002 09/17/87 *** Data loss with printer powered off *** It is possible, under some circumstances, to lose data sent to a serial printer using Xon/Xoff protocol. This occurs by powering the printer off without taking it OFFLINE first; or by shutting down or powering down the system and then rebooting with the printer OFFLINE when there are still jobs to be printed. The result, in both cases, is that the remaining data will be sent to the OFFLINE printer and therefore, lost. This is an inherent characteristic when using Xon/Xoff protocol. There are three workarounds: 1. On the 2000/3000, configure the printer and port for DTR, if possible. ** NOTE: DTR IS NOT SUPPORTED ON MPx SYSTEMS. 2. Make sure that the printer is OFFLINE before powering it down. 3. Make sure that the printer is ONLINE before rebooting. ORIGINATOR: T. Sears PRINTER-JUKI-6200-----------------------------------FIB002 Pg001 FIB 00003 01/18/89 *** SOLID "ERROR" INDICATION *** SYMPTOM/TEXT: "Error" light on solid. Cannot be reset by putting it back on-line or by powering it off and on. Service Manual or Users Guide does not offer any suggestions for this. FIX: Most likely the ribbon has run its full lenght in cartridge and the reflective foil is being sensed. Replace ribbon. ORIGINATOR: John Tank PRINTER-JUKI-6200-----------------------------------FIB003 Pg001 FIB 00004 07/20/89 *** Sheet Feeder feeding problems. *** SYMPTOM/TEXT: Sheet feeder feeding paper crooked. FIX:.Take sheet feeder off of printer and set it on a FLAT table to be sure that the unit sets flat with the two feet and the front brackets all on the table if it does not set flat losen the 6 screws on both sides and hold down while retightening the screws, also be sure that the feet are at the same locations on the side plates. Remove the chute assembly from the sheet feeder unit and put 4 to 6 pieces of electrical tape on both sides of the back of the chute assembly so that the tape lines up with the side plate stops, this is to reposition the chute assembly so that the paper feeds more to the back of the platen. Sometimes puting more tape on one side or the other also helps. ORIGINATOR: Ed Teixeira PRINTER-JUKI-6200-----------------------------------FIB004 Pg001
