                          *** GENERAL INFORMATION ***                        

 PARTS PREFIX: MM19XXXX

 300 LPM Drum Printer

   This is a shuttle-drum printer which uses a reluctance pickup for character
  detection off the print drum. There is a two position shuttle driven by the
  servo drive mechanism. The printer uses a helical drum, with a 17 consecutive
  character repeating format (ex. letter "A" 1st char. , letter "Q" 17th char).
  There are 68 hammers, that with the two posion shuttle, will give a total of
  136 print positions (only 132 characters will print).

 600 LPM Drum Printer

   This is a non-shuttle drum printer which also uses a reluctance pickup for
  character detection off the print drum. The printer has a helical drum, with
  a straight character format (ex. all letter "A"'s in a row). There is a full
  complement of 136 hammers, with only 132 characters printable.

            *** Ribbon Fault Lights due to binding ribbon motors ***

SYMPTOM:

  Ribbon faults have been occuring due to binding drive motors or the drive
 gears. This trouble can usually be identified by the occurrence of ribbon fault
 lights in only one direction of the ribbon's movement. When the ribbon reverses
 direction, the light's do not occur.

PROBLEM DETERMINATION:

  Binding ribbon drive motor or drive gears.

FIX:

  Remove and disassemble the ribbon motors for cleaning, refer to MSA-269 for
 complete details. Clean the drive gears and install the motors with 0.005 in.
 wink between gear teeth. Rotate the gears to ensure that they do not bind at
 any point.

          *** 64/96 Character Drum Switch (S2) Replaced By Jumpers ***

  The 64/96 character drum switch (S2) has been removed from the Control Logic .
 PCBA's (MM191011 and MM192011) and replaced with hard jumpers. The jumpers are
 the same for both boards, W32 jumpered for a 64 character drum and W33 jumpered
 for a 96 character drum. They are located under IC U66 U67, depending on the
 Control Logic PCBA.
