There are several Phases (or levels) of the hardware in the field which must be identified for parts usage. The following will help identify the phase of an ODT: Phase 1A hardware ODT Phase 1A, Serial Numbers xx 0001 to xx 9999 Note: xx represents two alpha characters that changed monthly. Phase 1B Hardware ODT Phase 1B, Serial Numbers VJ 101000 to VJ 99999 Phase 2A Hardware ODT Phase 2A, Serial Numbers VL 100000 to VL 999999 Phase 3A Hardware ODT Phase 3, Serial Numbers xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx *** NACS MACHINE TYPES AND FEATURE NUMBERS *** Basic Four ODT Model 4308 (Basic Four Serial Numbers) ......................4268 Basic Four ODT Model 4308 (Direct Serial Numbers) ..........................4398 Basic Four ODT Model 4308 CRC ..............................................9751 Basic Four ODT Model 4308 CRC ..............................................9761 *** AVAILABLE DOCUMENTATION *** Basic Four System S/10 & ODT Service Manual BFISD 8072 .............. ORIGINATOR: N. Jones VIDEO TERMINAL-DIRECT-VP800-------------------------FIB001 Pg001 FIB 00002 12/21/82 *** Incorrect firmware causes Error 0 on slave printer *** PROBLEM: Incorrect Firmware in the ODT may cause the printer to indicate an ERROR 0 (Busy Condition) or hang up. These problems may occur on any printers with Basic Four interface such as: BFISD 4208, 4203, 4200 Character Printers, connected to the ODT printer port. SOLUTION: Basic Four will release a new version of the ODT firmware shortly. Part Numbers for the new PROMS will be published as soon as they become available. ORIGINATOR: J. VAN OORDT VIDEO TERMINAL-DIRECT-VP800-------------------------FIB002 Pg001 FIB 00003 12/21/82 *** Keyboard latch-up problem *** PROBLEM: Some S/10s and ODTs, original and Phase 1B, may contain a marginal IC in the Video Processor PCBA which causes the keyboard to latch-up. The problem usually occurs on Power On. It can be diagnosed by disconnecting the keyboard cable and connecting it back again, if the keyboard starts to work, the IC is probably defective. Check the Communications Interface IC on the Video Processor Board at locations indicated below. It should be Intel 8251, if the IC is AM 9551, replace PCBA. S/10 Phase 1B Check AVP PCBA P/N 051310, TT520050 as follows: IC at location 19F should be Intel 8251. ODT Phase 1B Check AVP PCBA P/N 051281, TT520070 as follows: IC at location 19F should be Intel 8251. S/10 Original Phase Check Video Processor PCBA P/N 051081, TT520010 as follows: IC at location 6L should be Intel 8251. ODT Original Phase Check Video Processor PCBA P/N 051000, TT521010 as follows: IC at location D24 should be Intel 8251. ORIGINATOR: J. VAN OORDT VIDEO TERMINAL-DIRECT-VP800-------------------------FIB003 Pg001 FIB 00004 10/11/83 *** Firmware problem causes Error 5 on slave printer *** The ODT Phase 2 may contain incorrect firmware which causes an Error 5 indication with the slave printer. Error 5 may occur if the ESCAPE key is pressed while running in 7270 emulation mode and printing to the slave printer. When the ESCAPE is pressed the printer stops and an Error 5 appears on the ODT screen. When printing is resumed the last line prints again (total of 2 times). Basic Four will release a new version of the ODT Phase 2 Firmware in the near future. At that time Part Numbers for the new PROMs will be published to the field. ORIGINATOR: J. VAN OORDT VIDEO TERMINAL-DIRECT-VP800-------------------------FIB004 Pg001 FIB 00005 12/21/83 *** 7270 emulation set-up instructions *** This information is for New Style (Phase 1-B) hardware. Serial numbers associated with New Style (Phase 1-B) are: S/10 - BFISD Model 4005 - Serial Numbers CE 401000 and up. ODT - BFISD Model 4308 - Serial Numbers VJ 101000 and up. To do 7270 terminal Emulation in a S/10 or ODT the following is required: S/10 - BFISD MODEL 4005 1. Connect a terminal interface cable from a terminal port, configured for a VDT, in the Basic Four System to the COMM (MAIN) port in the S/10 (outer connector). 2. Load BB/M Level 9.0B or higher. 3. Set STATUS LINES as follows: STATUS LINE 1: Line CAPS STATUS LINE 2: 701 C T=4800 R=4800 701 C 1200 STATUS LINE 3: auto 7270 # w 0110 1100 0011 NOTE: 9600 Baud is not recommended due to possible screen buffer over-flow. 4. Start Basic Four system port connected to S/10. 5. S/10 should now work as a 7270 terminal. To return to BB/M, change STATUS LINE 1 from Line to BB/M. NOTE: At the present time there is no S/10 printer support in VDT Emulation Mode. ODT - BFISD MODEL 4308 1. Connect a terminal interface cable from a terminal port, configured for a VDT, in the Basic Four System to the COMM (MAIN) port in the ODT (outer connector). 2. Set STATUS LINES as follows: STATUS LINE 1: Line CAPS STATUS LINE 2: 701 C T=9600 R=9600 701 C 2400 STATUS LINE 3: auto 7270 # w 0110 1100 0011 3. Start Basic Four System port connected to ODT. 4. ODT should now work as a 7270 terminal. 5. If applicable, connect slave printer to ODT AUX port (inner connector) using cable P/N 906937 or equivalent. The Basic Four System port must be properly configured for the printer option. NOTE: To save status lines parameters, press Function, Control and character S. ORIGINATOR: J.
