Cropsey Type: Informational Purpose: To provide preliminary information to the field about setting up the DT4360 terminal and emulations that have been tested on various platforms with various software products. TERMINAL SETUP The Setup screen is accessed by pressing the SHIFT + SELECT keys. There are 4 basic screens which need to be checked which are: F1 General Setup (emulation,wrap,bells...) F2 Communications Setup (baud, parity, data bits,protocol...) F3 Display Setup (screen attributes) F4 Keyboard Setup (keyclick, key repeat, other keyboard responses) The box at the bottom of the setup screen contains various options, . the most common being: E Exit Setup (F9 may also be used to exit the Setup screen) S Save All (save changes just made, in nonvolatile memory) D Default Setup (return terminal to factory default settings) Movement within the Setup screen is accomplished by: Up/Down Arrow (to highlight parameter to be set) Left/Right Arrow (to change parameter setting) Tab (move between left and right columns) Setting the terminal for a specific use is best accomplished by first entering the Setup Screen (SHIFT + SELECT) and choosing "D" to set the terminal defaults. For 90% of application use, only the following parameters may need to be changed from the defaults: F1 General: EMULATION (suggested emulations vary depending upon software application, although the most common are vt220, vt100, wyse60 and wyse50+) F2 Communications: BAUD (set this accordingly) DATA/PARITY (set this accordingly) F3 Display: Defaults are generally okay for this screen F4 Keyboard: KEY CLICK (default is ON, user may prefer OFF) BACKSPACE KEY (this should always be BS/DEL) WP KBD MODE (if customer is using WordPerfect on this terminal, set to ON) TESTED EMULATIONS Testing has not been completed, but the following chart may be useful as a guideline. Platforms that have not been tested, may be able to use same emulations as others which have been tested. As testing continues, this chart will be updated and redistributed. Recommended cable is MAI P/N 916291-001. Maximum supported length 15'. MAI's 'customary' parallel printers (4201,4209,4214,4220,4224) are not supported as slave printers. Only printers supported previously as slave printers will be supported as slave printers on the DT4360. Slave printing is not a function of Unix operating systems, but is provided and supported through OpenBASIC applications. The terminal port is configured for a slave printer through the OpenBASIC "CONFIG" utility using MAI PDF's. All slave printer testing was performed using the vt220 emulation of the DT4360. Other supported emulations should provide similar slave printing capabilities. After printing to the slave printer the terminal will lock up and all keys pressed on the terminal will be printed to the Slave printer. The only way to unlock the terminal was to turn the terminal off/on. To correct this problem modify the "/usr/ob/etc/obinfo.src" file. Look for the TVI925 entry and move down to the entry "mc4=" modify from ^T\EA to \Ea. Save file and run :"/usr/ob/bin/obtic" to recreate TVI925 emulation.
