The switches on the adpater are rocker type switches. A red dot is at each end of the switch. To set the switch, depress the red dot at the appropriate ON or OFF end. The opposite end will protrude, making the red dot visible. Example: A switch set to the OFF position will have the dot visible at the ON-side of the switch. After installing a .5 to 3MB memory adapter, you must run the SET-UP function located on the Diagnostic diskette. Boot the system using the Diagnostic and at the menu screen select option 4 (SET-UP function). When the following screen is displayed: Base memory is composed of 256KB 512KB 640KB of base memory consisting of 128KB on the 128KB memory expansion option. Base memory size is XXXKB Is this correct (Y/N) Note: The line "Base memory is XXXKB will display 256, 512 or 640 in the XXX position. If XXX displays 640, Answer "YES. The next screen will ask for expansion memory size. If XXX displays any other number, answer "NO". The next screen will display: Enter correct base memory size (256, 512, 640) ? Enter 640. Continue to the next screens and enter the amount of expansion memory. ORIGINATOR: J. I have found 3 different problems: 1. Iomega Bernoulli Box disk copy program hang up. 2. PC-DOS's "More.Com" program display blank lines on the screen using DNA software version 2.12. 3. PC-DOS's "Format.Com" program doesn't work for floppy diskettes using DNA software version 2.16. To test for these "errors", I remove the network software and try the other software again. If this cures the problem, I have the customer contact DNA for a solution. Device Networks Architecture (DNA) Networks DevelopmentCorp. P.O. Problems have surfaced in the program when interfacing a C.ITOH P1351 parallel printer with a 3270 compatable PC. When using the compressed print option and trying to print the printer will remain in 10 CPS. In order to correct this problem it is necessary to do two things. First you will need to upgrade your software to 3.0. (IBM's newest revision). Second you will need to remove your parallel adapter from the seventh slot in your XT and put it in any slot except 7, or 8. With the parallel card in slot 6 you will find that you can change your character spacing at will with ease. IBM has changed their software in their recent ver 3.0 to offer you two (2) more printer driver options. Currently, the 2.1 revision offers you four (4) optional drivers, A-D. 3.0 now offers the following: E. Permits you to designate your own driver perameters. F. Allows you to choose a driver for the newest IBM graphics printer. ORIGINATOR: Robert T. Vosburg CPU-IBM-5170----------------------------------------FIB010 Pg001 FIB 00011 07/28/87 *** AT WITH 30 MEG DRIVE *** When replacing a system board in the AT be aware the customer may have upgraded their system to support the IBM 30MB hard drive. To do this they would have replaced the ROM with an upgraded version, located on the system board. The 30MB hard drive requires a drive type 20, and the original system board (PC040014)) only goes up to drive type 15. If the system is working, you can check to see if they have the new ROM bios by loading the IBM Advanced Diagnostics and check the Setup Program for the drive types listed. If the system is not up and working, and you have to replace the system board, remembert the following: NACS PART # DESC. COMMENT PC040014 256/512K Sys Bd.
