This new version (level "2C") repairs a here-to- fore unknown bug that could, under special circumstances, cause "Sector Not Found" errors. The special circumstances needed to cause this are: 1) to have the "verify" option enabled, and 2) to have the digital controller encounter a "time out" error during a write and verify operation across the bus. These "time out" errors do not occur in the "AT" (and AT clones) host computers, so the bug should never occur. However, on "PC" (and PC clones) host computers, the "time out" error can occasionally occur and if verify is "on", the problem may happen. Many systems operate with verify turned "off" and are, therefore, not susceptible to this bug. Keep in mind, however, that if IOMEGA utilities version 4.48 software is used, the verify option is automatically invoked and can cause the problem to occur. For those "PC" type systems with a Full Height Bernoulli Box connected and the verify option "on", the only fix is to install this new code. This code comes in two versions. If you are replacing a two IC microcode (IC's plugged in to U36 & U37), use P/N's 01058700 at U36 and 01058800 at U37. For the single IC version (IC only at U37 and U36 empty), use P/N 01059100 at U37. Remember, this is 10.0 megabyte code. Do not attempt to replace any 10.5 megabyte code (46, 49, etc.) with it. The 10.0 megabyte SCSI units (with code 26, 29, 2A, etc.) received for repairs should be upgraded to level "2C" before it is returned to the customer.
