PROBLEM DETERMINATION: If the cable between the motherboard and the battery speaker assembly uses male connectors to a small plug about 2 inches from the corner of the mainboard, then you have a rare old style system. This applies only to 8560s with serial numbers between 8000500 and 8009000. Original Current System board (PC130011) female male Speaker Battery (PC120004) female male Speaker cable (PC130013) male female FIX: The mainboard, speaker/battery assembly and the short cable between the two should all be replaced withh the current style. ECA005 *** Engineering Change Announcement 005 from IBM PURPOSE: Provide a replacement 3.5" diskette drive (1.44MB) for diskette interchangeability problems between 720Kb diskette drives and 1.44Mb diskette drives. Machines affected: All PS/2 models 50, 60 and 80 PROBLEM DETERMINATION: 1. If the customer is reporting problems when transferring data on 720Kb diskettes between the PS/2 model 30 and the Model 50, 60 or 80 or any 3.5" 720 Kb diskette. 2. Inspection of the 1.44Mb diskette in the model 50, 60 or 80 has a sticker in the lower left rear corner labeled D01, D02, D03, D04 or D05 and a bar code label beginning with B1BAO. After doing setup, the hard drive cannot be accessed. PROBLEM DETERMINATION: The system includes a 3270 emulator or a Token Ring adapter or some similar adapter. Device drivers where not installed on the System Reference Diskette. FIX: Some adapters like the two mentioned above come with their own device drivers that must be added to the System Reference Diskette during adapter installation. In some large accounts where the sytem is setup at a central location, this was not done or the copy of the Reference diskette was not sent to the site. To correct follow this procedure. Make a copy of the System Reference Diskette and load the copy. From the main menu select Option 5 to copy an option diskette. Follow the menu for copying the option diskette that comes with the adapter to your backup copy of the System Reference Diskette. You may now do the Set Configuration option. Always use this modified Reference Diskette for all future Setups or diagnostics ORIGINATOR: Jon Hall 9/DPSS CPU-IBM-PS/2-50,PS/2-60-----------------------------FIB011 Pg001 FIB 00012 03/31/88 *** ERROR CODE LIST *** The following error codes are special to the PS/2 series: 110 System Board memory failure (formally PARITY CHECK 1) 111 I/O channel check Activated (formally Parity CHECK 2) 112 Watchdog time-out (missing timer interrupt) 113 Direct Memory access (DMA) bus time out (Device hangs on Bus) ORIGINATOR: JOHN HILL CPU-IBM-PS/2-50,PS/2-60-----------------------------FIB012 Pg001 FIB 00013 06/09/88 *** RUNNING MODEL 80 DIAGS ON MODELS 50/60 *** SYMPTOM/TEXT: Do not attempt to run IBM PS/2 Model 80 Diagnostics on a Model 50 or Model 60.
