If a Function-Reset is not performed, various function keys will not work properly. o When a user runs the command 'setup123', an ascii file is created in their HOME directory that stores their personal configuration. The name of the file is ".l123". SOFTWARE-LOTUS-APPLICATION--------------------------FIB004 Pg010 o Running Lotus 1-2-3 from the system console is not recommended. o The MAI spooler is recommended for use in the place of the Unix spooler. The MAI spooler provides functionality (slave printing) not offered by the Unix spooler. o If the Unix print spooler is being used, the user may want to change their PATH variable to place /usr/bin in the path before /usr/mbf/bin. o If the MAI print spooler is being used, files named u13ambf, which should be temporary, may be left in the /tmp directory. o Using the Unix spooler, can result in error messages, similar to the following, being mailed to the user: From Subject: Status of lp request -id Your request -id destined for encountered an error while printing on the printer Reason for failure: unknown mode: -ctsflow This condition has been seen using the following printers: PT-4215, PT-4228 and PT-4229. o While printing to a skave printer, the screen will be cleared and a 'Serial printer in use.' messafe will be displayed. When the print job is complete the 'logon' screen is displaued. Use one of the defined {REFRESH} keys to restore the Lotus 1-2-3 worksheet to the screen. o To printout a 'map' of the keystrokes required for various terminals complete the following steps: NOTE: Step 15 of the Install Instructions for Lotus 1-2-3 must have been completed previously. A. Execute the following command to determine the terminals which have been entered in the terminal database: ls -l /lotus/123.v10/keymaps/* | more where = the destination directory selected for Lotus in Step 7 of the installation instructions. B. Execute the following command to enter the 'keyedit' utility: keyedit C. Type the following characters to Open a terminal database file: /O D. Enter the name of the terminal (see Step A above) whose setup you want to print. The data for that terminal will be displayed. SOFTWARE-LOTUS-APPLICATION--------------------------FIB004 Pg011 E. Type the following characters to Print the terminal setup to a print file: /P F. Enter a name for the print file which will be generated by the keyedit utility. This file will be created in your working directory (ex. 4313.keymap, 4314.keymap). G. Type the following characters to Quit the keyedit utility: /Q H. The print file generated in Step F does not identify which terminal the 'keymap' applies to. Although optional, it is advisable to use the 'vi' editor to insert a line at the beginning of the print file which identifies the terminal being referenced. I. Enter the following command to print the 'keymap' data: # lpr list= where = the printer name that you want to print the keymap to, and is the name of the print file created in Step F. o If you are using the DT-4315 terminal in vt100 emulation mode the following keys do not function: 1-2-3 FUNCTION KEY NAME -------------- -------- {BIG LEFT} SHIFT-TAB {DEL} DELETE {ESC} Esc Use the alternate keys defined for these functions. Be sure your TERM variable is set to vt100. This may be done by adding it to your .profile or from command mode. Use the 'configure' utility to configure the port as you would for a DT-4315 terminal. Configure the terminal 'VT100 Parameters' options as follows: Keypad mode = applications Cursor keys = normal o Printing graphics to a PT-4226 configured as a slave printer does not function properly. o Due to limitations in the Unix System V 3.2.0 operating system, printing graphics on parallel printers from within Lotus 1-2-3 is not supported. Printing text is supported. o When printing to a slave printer connected to your terminal, you may receive an error indicating the printer is already busy. This is caused by a corrupted version of the file '/tmp/bdevtbl'. The file is corrupted by the 'configure' utility. The workaround SOFTWARE-LOTUS-APPLICATION--------------------------FIB004 Pg012 is to delete this file (/tmp/bdevtbl). This problem has been fixed on BOSS/VX 1.1A. o Removing Lotus 1-2-3 using the 'custom' utility does not function correctly. Lotus 1-2-3 continues to be displayed because 'custom' fails to remove the following two files: /etc/perms/123 /tmp/perms/123 6.0 ADDITIONAL REFERENCE MATERIAL For additional reference regarding Lotus 1-2-3, refer to: o Lotus 1-2-3 for Unix System V, Installation and Administration Guide. o Lotus 1-2-3 for Unix System V, User Guide o Lotus 1-2-3 for Unix System V, User Reference .............................................................. Keyboard 4300 does not have function keys F13 and F14. Therefore, the ESC and CTRL sequences must be used to get the functionality of the F13 & F14 function keys. ORIGINATOR: Chuck Zimmerman SOFTWARE-LOTUS-APPLICATION--------------------------FIB004 Pg017 FIB 00005 MAI COMPANY CONFIDENTIAL 10/08/93 *** Lotus 1-2-3 Release 3.X & PSx130 [ WPSF 754 ] *** TYPE: Informational PURPOSE: Recent releases of the popular spreadsheet program LOTUS 1-2-3 (Release 3.0, 3.1, etc.) do not seem to be able to distinguish an 80486DX based system from an 80486SX based system (such as the MAI PSx 130 System which is based on the 80486SX). As a result of this, an 80486SX based system is identified by the LOTUS 1-2-3 as an 80486DX based system which could give erroneous results in its usage. Since the primary difference between an 80486SX and an 80486DX is the inclusion of a math co-processor into the 80486DX chip, the following startup procedure is required for those MAI PSx 130 systems which do not have an optional, external math co-processor installed: >123 -s Should you need further information, please contact MAI Product Support. Inquires related to the actual usage of LOTUS 1-2-3 may be directed to the LOTUS Corp. or the dealer from whom LOTUS 1-2-3 was purchased.
