An MDT hang or an Error 169 will occur in this event. The way around this problem is to turn off the system spooling before printing. Dataword II Level 3.1 contains the fix for this condition, and is available on O.S. Level 4.5A.01. ORIGINATOR: P. Reported problems include: 1. No response from the printer. 2. Failure to select the correct bin on the sheetfeeder. 3. Failure of subscript or superscript functions. 4. Printer error lights and hangups. 5. Sheet misfeeds or improper vertical registration. The files are resident on the system disk and loaded into MDT memory when the word proessing printer is "started" on the MDT. The file names are: ;$wpp0 ;$wpp1 ;$wpp2 They can be verified by renaming them (uppercase letters suggested) and restoring the original files from the customer's BOSS tape; then using the utilities to perform a File Compare. It may be necessary to catalog the tape so that only the ;$wpp files may be restored. Discrepancies would confirm file corruption or mismatch with the BOSS level that may have occurred if the update was incomplete, or performed with the wrong procedure. NOTE The ;$wppx files on BOSS level 4.3B had a sheetfeeder bin-selection problem and should not be used. BOSS levels 4.3A, 4.3D, or 4.4A appear to work correctly with sheetfeeders. The same code files are used with the level 3 BOSS and S80 BOSS level 5. Since this process involves disturbing files on the customer disk, eliminate all possible equipment failures prior to performing it, and obtain help from the local BFISD branch or dealership.
