The specific model of Seagate drive(s) or the type of PC involved in this problem is not known. SYMPTOM: DISK READ ERRORS OR FAILURES DURING RESTORE. PROBLEM DETERMINATION: System locks up during a RESTORE operation or experiences read errors. Problem is caused by a BIOS time-out on error detection resulting in a long pause that looks like a system hang. FIX: Reformat the drive using an interleave factor of 3 instead of 2. ORIGINATOR: J.
