These systems have been typically marketed by SUN and its resellers as technical workstations, however MAI is leading the introduction of this technology into the commercial multiuser server market. These systems are marketed as SUN systems and carry no MAI label. The SUN family of systems includes single and multi-processor systems. They run on a unix based operating system called Solaris. SUN systems are shipped directly from SUN, and are covered by a 3 month waranty period. During the waranty period SUN will either send a replacement part or provide on-site repair of the system. SUN has a technical support hot line: 1-800-USA-4SUN this number should not be used until after contacting one of the National Support personnel listed below for authorization: 1. Wally Moore 2. Dan Arteritano 3. Eugene Okifor 4. Norm Jones The SUN systems will use either ethernet terminal servers or SCSI terminal servers (from Central Data). These units are waranteed by the manufacturer rather than by SUN. Refer to the appropriate FIB group in the NETWORK DEVICES category for the terminal servers. SUN systems marketed by MAI: Classic/LX SPARCstation 10 1000 2000 ****** SPECIAL ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES ****** Defective parts return: We have three days to return defective parts to SUN or the customer will be billed for the part. The parts should be returned to SUN directly (DO NOT SEND TO IRVINE). Paperwork to handle the defective return is included in the box with the part. If there are questions regarding the return an 800 number is included also.
