These systems typically come with Digiboard 128 port async adapters and SCO unix. The BASIC used may be OpenBASIC, BBX, Thoroughbred Basic, etc. *** TRAINING *** Compaq has continuous classes going on around the United States these are three day classes and the cost is $900. Passing a test at the end of the class qualifies the student as Compaq Certified. For more information on classes available Compaq has a fax back service @ 1-800-345-1518, select PaqFax option, the Compaq Training Catalog is document 2. Compaq also offers a series of Service and Installation video tapes. *** PARTS HANDLING *** The Compaq systems include a multiyear warranty, spare parts won't be stocked, they will have to shipped in from Compaq. Before Compaq will ship a part they require model number, part number, and serial number of the defective part, it is a good idea to record part numbers and serial numbers in the site log when the system is installed. Warranty parts must be ordered by a Compaq certified service person using their Compaq authorization ID number. Contact the nearest Compaq certified person for parts assistance. The manual "How to do business with Compaq" which is supplied to each Compaq certified service person, details how to handle parts. Non-waranty parts are stocked under part number series CP or CPQ. *** DOCUMENTATION *** The Compaq Service Quick Reference Guide (QRG) (spare part number 162212-001) is a very good handbook covering all models of Compaq systems, it is updated quarterly and should be available for all Field Engineers servicing Compaq systems. Contact John Desrosiers at Corporate in Irvine for manuals. The Compaq QuickFind service is on-line on a server in Irvine, there is currently limited access to this service, however, plans are for this service to be expanded. QuickFind provides virtually all information there is on all products. This FIB will be updated with access information when available.
