1.1 PURPOSE
THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROCEDURE IS TO PROVIDE THE INSTRUCTIONS NEEDED TO
PERFORM A COMPLETE AND THOROUGH FUNCTIONAL TEST OF THE PHOENIX CMB,
MEMORY, 8-WAY, LAN, MTC AND BUS ADAPTER PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD ASSEMBLIES
IN ORDER TO INSURE COMPLIANCE WITH THE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS.

1.2 SCOPE

THIS DOCUMENT DETAILS THE STEP BY STEP PROCEDURES THAT SHOULD BE USED TO
FUNCTIONALLY TEST THE CMB, MEMORY AND ALL CONTROLLER PCBAS USED IN THE
PHOENIX SYSTEM. THE CONTROLLERS USED ON PHOENIX ARE ALSO USED ON THE 2000
SYSTEMS THEREFORE, FUNCTIONAL TESTING OF THESE PCBAS ON EITHER SYSTEM IS
    ACCEPTABLE.

1.4 PRECAUTIONARY INSTRUCTIONS

1.4.1 ALL POWER MUST BE OFF WHENEVER A PCBA OR CABLE IS INSERTED OR
EXTRACTED FROM A CONNECTOR OTHERWISE DAMAGE TO THE PROCESSOR OR
PERIPHERALS OR OTHER ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT MAY RESULT.
1.4.2 IT IS IMPORTANT THAT ALL CABLES AND CONNECTORS ARE PROPERLY
IDENTIFIED AND CONNECTED CORRECTLY PRIOR TO APPLYING POWER,
OTHERWISE ERRONEOUS INDICATIONS OR EVEN DAMAGE COULD RESULT.

1.5 TROUBLESHOOTING

TROUBLESHOOTING, BY ITS VERY NATURE, CANNOT BE "PROCEDUREIZED". IT
REQUIRES SKILL, TRAINING, FAMILIARITY WITH THE EQUIPMENT AND A SPECIAL
APTITUDE. THIS SECTION, THEN, WILL ONLY DEAL WITH THE ROUTING OF FAILED
    EQUIPMENT.

1.5.1 PCBA'S THAT FAIL AT THE FUNCTIONAL TEST LEVEL WILL BE RESUBMITTED
TO ATE TESTING. IF PROBLEMS ARE FOUND, THE APPROPRIATE CORRECTIVE
ACTION WILL BE TAKEN AND THE PCBA WILL CONTINUE ITS NORMAL FLOW
           FROM THAT POINT.
1.5.2 PCBA'S THAT FAIL FUNCTIONAL TESTING AND PASS ATE RETESTING WILL BE
SUBMITTED FOR TESTING ON THE FLOPPY BASED DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM WHERE
SPECIFIC TESTS CAN BE SELECTED TO AID IN PIN-POINTING THE PROBLEM.
1.5.3 FAILED PCBA'S WILL BE PROPERLY IDENTIFIED SO THAT TRACEABILITY CAN
BE MAINTAINED. THIS IS NECESSARY FOR RECORD KEEPING AND ALSO TO
PRECLUDE PCBA'S FROM BEING TRAPPED IN AN ENDLESS ATE/FUNCTIONAL
           FLOW LOOP.
1.5.4 FAILURE DATA MUST BE RECORDED AND REVIEWED SO THAT ANY WEAKNESSES
OR GAPS IN THE TESTING CAN BE FOUND AND CORRECTED.
2.0 INTRODUCTION
THIS DOCUMENT CONTAINS THE PROCEDURES TO BE USED IN TESTING BOTH THE
903593-001 AND 903631-001 CMB ASSEMBLIES. ALL PARAGRAPHS EXCEPT 2.11 AND
2.12 ARE COMMON TO BOTH CMB ASSEMBLY TYPES. PARAGRAPHS 2.11 AND 2.12 ARE
THE PROCEDURES THAT ARE SPECIFIC TO PARTICULAR CMB VERSIONS.
2.1 EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
2.1.1 A BASE PHOENIX SYSTEM (LESS CMB) WHICH INCLUDES AS A MINIMUM, A
1/4" STREAMER TAPE DRIVE, A STREAMER CONTROLLER PCBA, A HARD DISK
DRIVE LOADED WITH THE LATEST PHOENIX OS AND PHOENIX/CONDOR
DIAGNOSTICS, A WDD CONTROLLER PCBA AND AT LEAST 4MB OF MEMORY.
2.1.2 TWO PHOENIX COMPATIBLE VIDEO TERMINALS WITH MATING CABLES.
2.1.3 A SET OF DIAGNOSTIC AND SSN TAPES AND A SECURITY PAL.
2.1.4 ONE PARALLEL PORT LOOP BACK CONNECTOR.
2.1.5 A SET OF EIA AND EIB PCBAs WITH INTERCONNECTING CABLES.
     2.1.6 TWO PHOENIX EWAY CONTROLLERS.
2.1.7 AN ADDITIONAL PHOENIX POWER SUPPLY.
2.1.8 A DUAL TRACE OSCILLOSCOPE CAPABLE OF MEASURING TO 25NS.
2.1.9 A VOLTMETER CAPABLE OF MEASURING TO .05VDC.
2.2 ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA
2.2.1 THE PCBAS SHALL BE CONSIDERED TO HAVE PASSED WHEN ALL STEPS LISTED
IN TABLE 1 HAVE BEEN COMPLETED ERROR FREE.
2.2.2 PCBAS THAT PASS SHOULD CONTINUE ALONG THEIR NORMAL ROUTING. UNITS
THAT DO NOT PASS SHALL BE SENT FOR TROUBLESHOOTING.
